An affiliate of Vista Equity Partners received an $88 million financing that was completed in connection with the acquisition of a North Carolina-based data analytics company

Austin-based Demeter Topco Inc., a company without a website and likely created for the purpose of an acquisition, raised the capital from five investors. The financing is related to the acquisition of AgKnowledge Holdings Co. Inc., also called AGDATA, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. However, it's unclear what Vista Equity paid for Charlotte, N.C.-based AGDATA

Last week, SFW Capital Partners LLC announced selling AGDATA to Vista Equity, an Austin-based firm that regularly invests in technology companies. AGDATA, which was founded in 1985, operates in the United States and Canada, enabling agriculture and animal-health companies to analyze data to manage marketing and sales strategies, according to the company's website

New York-based SFW Capital had invested in AGDATA in 2010 for an undisclosed amount. It typically invests $10 to $75 million in middle-market companies, according to the firm's website

Earlier this month, Vista Equity Partners, which operates offices in San Francisco, Chicago and Austin completed the acquisition of Autotask Corp., a New York-based business-management software developer after Autotask collected $99 million financing from five investors, according to an SEC filing
