Whole Foods ranks on Fortune 500

Whole Foods Market Inc. is the only Austin-based company to make Fortune magazine's Fortune 500 list for 2014


The organic grocery titan, led by Co-CEOs John Mackey and Walter Robb IV, ranked at No. 218 on the list, which ranked companies by their total revenue for their most recent fiscal year


Whole Foods (Nasdaq: WFM) had revenue of $12.9 billion, a 10.4 percent increase from the year before, and $551 million in profit, an 18.3 percent increase from the year previous. Whole Foods ranks as the largest publicly traded company in Austin


Texas had a host of companies make the Fortune 500 list this year. Topping the Lone Star State's members in the exclusive club is Irving-based Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM), which ranked at No. 2, behind Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT)
