Yellowfin Design and Strategy of Austin has been acquired by Ascend Marketing LLC of Grapevine, Texas, in a move that will leave Yellowfin owner and President Tina Schweiger in control of the Austin office, which will operate as Ascend Marketing

The deal closed in mid-July and terms were not disclosed

The Austin branch’s revenues are expected to jump as a result of the acquisition, from $350,000 the company reported in 2013 to $500,000 by the end of 2014. More than $1 million in revenue is forecast for 2015. That growth has caused Schweiger to double her staff to take on the responsibilities of the added work from Ascend

Originally founded in 2002 and relaunched in 2011, Yellowfin was a boutique design and branding firm focused on the pharmaceutical, energy, technology, nonprofit and entrepreneurial sectors. Its clients included Acorda Therapeutics, CleanFuel USA and the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center

Ascend, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area of North Texas, is a 36-person marketing firm with clients including Verizon, Alcatel Lucent, Sabre Airlines Solutions and TXU. Schweiger becomes a member of Ascend’s corporate board of managers as part of the all-stock deal

“This transaction moves us to a service tier that I have been seeking for a long time. It provides us the additional resources and professional expertise needed to be able to offer comprehensive solutions to our clients’ challenges,” Schweiger said in a statement announcing the acquisition. “At the same time, it provides a platform for the continued growth and development of the practice. Ascend’s people-centric philosophy fits well with the approach that we always have taken with our client service."
