Choosing a commercial real estate investment sales brokerage firm can be challenging. The firms that are strongest in Austin may not be the same firms that are good in your home market. And it can sometimes be difficult to decide whether to choose a local firm or a national player.

While AQUILA Commercial provides commercial real estate investment services to commercial property owners and CRE investors large and small, we specialize in off-market and strategic acquisition/disposition services.

As such, we understand that you may still want to explore other options before selecting a brokerage firm. So we’ve tried to make it easy and lay out the landscape for you.

Major Players

We frequently get the question, “Who are the other major players in Austin?” — which is why we have prepared a list of the best commercial real estate investment brokerage firms in Austin, Texas. In this realm, there are two big fish:

Eastdil Secured

HQ: New York, NY

Insider Insights: Though Eastdil Secured does not have an Austin office, they have been involved in a large number of high-profile office sale transactions in Austin in recent years such as Prominent Pointe I and II, The Avallon, The Campus at the Arboretum and  River Place Corporate Park. Mike McDonald, a broker in Eastdil’s Atlanta office, has been the Eastdil broker most active in Austin.

Eastdil primarily takes on large, Class A office projects, but has also been involved in several smaller deals in Austin.

Eastdil is the real estate investment banking branch of financial giant Wells Fargo & Co.

JLL

HQ: Chicago, IL

Insider insights: In 2019, JLL acquired Dallas, Texas-based HFF making JLL a top player in the Austin market. HFF was known for its strong Austin office and leveraging its mortgage banking and equity placement divisions for its commercial real estate investment sales transactions. In Austin, HFF was a major player in the institutional space, but also had a team focused on smaller, local transactions.

Other Firms

While the firms listed above are far and away the major players, there are a handful of other firms worth researching, depending on the type of property you’re looking to buy or sell. These companies are:

CBRE

HQ: Los Angeles, CA

Insider insights: CBRE’s global relationships help make them a player in commercial real estate investment sales. That said, their Austin office is traditionally known for being stronger in its other services.

Cushman & Wakefield

HQ: Chicago, IL

Insider Insights: Cushman and Wakefield has not traditionally played a big role in the commercial real estate investment sales scene in Austin, but recently recruited Todd Mills to try to grow the company’s commercial real estate investment sales business in this market.

We are eager to help you learn more about other commercial real estate investment sales firms that might be a good fit for helping you buy or sell your property.
