As a business founded in 2007, just prior to The Great Recession, AQUILA is no stranger to guiding our clients through economic turmoil and uncertainty.

Yet still, in the 13 years that AQUILA has been in business, we have not seen anything like this. In the next few weeks our community, our industry, and our country will be tested like never before.

To take on the challenges ahead, in true AQUILA fashion, our team has banded together – metaphorically speaking (still maintaining our safe distance). We have mobilized quickly to heed the advice of local, state, and CDC officials while continuing to ensure seamless business operations.

Now, more than ever, we are living our company’s core values of empathy, esprit de corp, work ethic, authenticity, integrity, collaboration, ingenuity, quality, creativity, camaraderie and (in unusual and unexpected ways) fun.

Here are four principles AQUILA will use to guide our business in the weeks to come:

1. We will continue to make thoughtful decisions for the well-being of our employees, clients, tenants, and community with the long view in mind.

The health and safety of our employees, customers and clients is our top priority. Currently, to ensure the seamless operations of our buildings and service to our tenants, AQUILA’s headquarters office and on-site property management offices remain open however with greatly reduced staff. All nonessential staff was asked to work from home. In addition, we have critical staff set up at home to continue to support our properties and operations. We are monitoring this daily and may make other changes as additional information is received or conditions change.

Despite the reduction in on-site staff, we stand ready to respond to your needs and we will do everything possible to ensure that our service levels remain high. Specific logistics may change as the situation evolves, but rest assured our team will be available to respond to your needs.

2. We will communicate openly, frequently, and honestly with our clients, tenants, and employees.

Over the next few days, our service providers – tenant representatives, leasing brokers, property managers, project managers, and more – will reach out to all clients with whom we have active assignments.

We want to have open and frank conversations directly with each of you to discuss any changing needs and address questions or concerns you may have about your projects.

If you have any questions for our team, please reach out directly to your AQUILA contacts or me. Phone numbers and email addresses for every AQUILA employee are available in our team directory.

3. We will use ingenuity and creativity to serve our clients.

These unprecedented circumstances will require a new level of cooperation amongst landlords, owners, tenants, brokers, commercial real estate investors, lenders, and other stakeholders. Everyone at AQUILA is working tirelessly to gather information to devise creative solutions that will best suit our clients’ short and long-term needs.

4. We will weather this storm as a family.

AQUILA is more than a company. We are a family. And you, our clients, customers, and friends, are part of our family.

We put our trust in our employees and leadership to provide uninterrupted service that exceeds expectations.

Like Austin, AQUILA is a community of dreamers, doers, and entrepreneurs. We have grown alongside the city of Austin, and we look forward to continuing to do so.

Though our clients are based all over the world, we are a local business. Austin is our home. And our blood runs true ‘deep eddy’ blue.

This crisis has impacted all of us, but it is unusually difficult for our small local businesses. Please, do what you can to support local businesses in this time of need. Buy gift cards, get takeout (where safe) and do what you can to help them weather this storm. They are what makes Austin, well, Austin!

We remain steadfast in our commitment to the future of our city, our company, and the service of our clients.
