If you’ve read our previous articles, you know that Austin’s growth story evolves year to year. While the industries driving job announcements may shift, the region’s ability to attract new employers and support expanding operations remains consistent.

Using Opportunity Austin’s Relocations and Expansions Log, we analyzed companies that announced relocations or expansions in the Austin region in 2025, based on announced job totals reported by the Chamber. The data shows a year defined by continued industrial strength, semiconductor growth, and corporate headquarters activity.

Total Jobs Announced in Austin in 2025

In total, 10,621 new jobs were announced in 2025 across a range of industries.

For comparison, approximately 10,194 jobs were announced in 2024. While the overall totals are similar, the composition of growth shifted. In 2024, job creation was heavily influenced by several large-scale semiconductor and manufacturing projects.

In 2025, major announcements were spread across a wider set of industries, including semiconductors, energy, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and corporate operations.

When Job Announcements Occurred in 2025

Job announcements throughout 2025 were not evenly distributed across the year, with several large projects driving noticeable spikes in certain months.

Industries Driving Job Announcements in Austin in 2025

To better understand broader economic trends, we grouped each company into several primary industry categories, including semiconductors, energy and materials, aerospace and defense, advanced manufacturing, software and technology, and logistics.

While some companies could reasonably fit into more than one category, each was assigned to the industry that most closely reflected its primary business activity at the specified location. These groupings provide a simplified but useful view of where job announcements are concentrated across the region.

Semiconductors and advanced electronics led job announcements in 2025, accounting for nearly one quarter of total announced jobs.

Energy, battery, and materials-related companies followed closely behind, underscoring Austin’s expanding role in clean energy and advanced manufacturing supply chains. Aerospace and defense also saw meaningful growth, while software and AI companies continued to contribute to overall job creation.

A substantial portion of 2025 announcements were tied to manufacturing, semiconductor production, energy infrastructure, and logistics operations. These industries typically require specialized facilities and long-term capital investment, reinforcing the strength of Austin’s expanding advanced manufacturing and industrial economy.

Headquarters Announced in Austin in 2025

Another notable trend in 2025 was the continued addition of corporate headquarters operations.

A significant share of relocations and expansions were designated as headquarters, spanning industries such as energy, semiconductors, aerospace, software, and healthcare.

Headquarters announcements are particularly impactful, as they often include executive leadership, engineering, and high-value decision-making roles that anchor companies in the region long term.

Geographic Distribution of Growth

While Austin proper continues to capture a large share of office and headquarters growth, major industrial and manufacturing projects increasingly extended into surrounding communities such as Taylor, Rockdale, Bastrop, Georgetown, and other regional markets.

This geographic spread reflects the importance of available land, infrastructure capacity, and industrial development opportunities in accommodating large-scale projects.

Conclusion

The Austin Chamber’s data makes clear that 2025 was another strong year for job announcements in the Austin region.

With more than 10,600 jobs announced, growth remained steady compared to 2024 but became more diversified across industries. Semiconductors, energy, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing led the way, while corporate headquarters and technology firms continued to reinforce Austin’s innovation-driven economy.

Rather than depending on a single dominant employer or sector, Austin’s 2025 growth story reflects a maturing and balanced economic base.

The mix of semiconductor manufacturing, energy investment, aerospace activity, and headquarters growth illustrates how Austin’s economy is broadening beyond its earlier reputation as primarily a technology hub.

As the region continues to expand its infrastructure and workforce, these trends point to sustained economic momentum in the years ahead.
